Brewing yeast is a brewery by-product. It consists of high nutritional cell contents and cell walls.
In The Asahi Group, brewing yeast is utilized in various ways. We use it as supplement "Ebios" for human nutrition. We also produce yeast extract, which used in food manufacturing to provide flavor. However, the yeast cell wall hadn't been utilized because of its insolubility, even though it contains beneficial ingredients for plant growth.
Our R&D have researched and developed technology for processing brewing yeast cell walls for years, which resulted in the creation of product that can use as an agricultural material. This material has been shown to promote plant's root growth, disease resistance and crop yields, while reducing the use of agricultural chemicals. It contributes the reduction of greenhouse gas emission per yield through increasing crop yields.
